Isn't Great When People Have Nice Things to Say?

It feels so much better than not being nice!!

This letter came to the Gig Harbor Historic Waterfront Association this week and I think it is worth sharing.  So often people complain, and not often enough do they take the time to praise, even though we all know people are working hard and doing good things.  Thank tom and Sharon for taking the time to say Thank YOU!

Thank You Gig Harbor, July 15, 2010

For the past three years my husband and I have traveled extensively across the United States on behalf of a national organization and although we visited many beautiful locations, we found ourselves happiest as we were about to land at the Seattle-Tacoma airport, knowing we would soon be back to our little piece of paradise.

In mid June we had the opportunity to host twenty of our fellow travelers who had expressed great interest in seeing for themselves what was so special about the Gig Harbor we bragged about over the years.  they came in two separate groups, both before and after a regional meeting held in Seattle.  Most of our friends came from the South and South Eastern parts of the United States where temperatures were already near 100 degrees.  Only a few had ever visited the Pacific Northwest and none had ever seen Gig Harbor.  They were overwhelmed by both its beauty and friendly atmosphere.

From the moment they arrived, the graciouos hospitality shown by Kathy Franklin and her staff at the Maritime Inn set the tone for the whole week.  The charming rooms (each different and named after a fishing boat) and attention to detail was amazing.  The outdoor decks made a perfect spot to gather with friends and enjoy the long twilight over a glass of wine.

Mouth watering bisquits and gravy at Kelly's or breakfast at the Tides started the daily adventure which usually included walking the whole waterfront district and discovering all the wonderful shops and galleries we are so fortunate to have there.  The spread their tourist dollars all over town, shopping at Wild Birds Unlimited, Mostly Books, Birdnest Gallery and Maggies Corner at Ace Hardware just to name a few.

On two different afternoons we had the pleasure of taking them all out on our boat for a cruise and then pulling right up to the dock at Anthony's to unload fourteen for dinner.  They literally could not believe their eyes.  To have such an excellent meal and have that incredible view of the harbor too.  It was just magical and of course having a full moon made it even more so.

The notes of thanks have poured into our mailbox so I thought they should be passed along.  We never take this charming community for granted but sometimes it's good to see Gig Harbor through a first-time visitor's eyes.  Our friends had an amazing time they will never forget.  So, a great big thank you to all of the friendly and helpful merchants, staff and servers who unknowingly made such a great first impression.

Sincerely,

Tom & Sharon Sadler
