The Community Development Department is responsible for all land-use, planning, historic preservation, development and code enforcement within the City limits. 

The Department is guided by the City's Municipal Code and International Building Code, as well as the long-range community blueprint set forth in the Comprehensive Plan. Using these sources, we strive to ensure that the type, scale, character and location of development - both public and private - reflects the community's vision and values. Sound planning practices will keep the City a desirable place to live, work and play.

The Department serves a population of over 10,500 residents and includes the Building & Fire Safety Division and the Planning Division.
